WORLD TEACHERS DAY; N.U.T. VP BLAMES LACK OF NATIONAL BODY

FROM LEFT; NUT SECRETARY GENERAL, MR IKPE OBONG; DEPUTY NATIONAL PRESIDENT, CHIEF ONEM NELSON; 1ST VICE PRESIDENT, MR GARBA NGAMDU, AND 3RD VICE PRESIDENT, MR ISAAC ACHEM DURING THEIR VISIT TO THE MINISTRY IN ABUJA ON FRIDAY (13/4/12).
As the world marked the "World Teachers Day", last week , NUT National Vice President, Comrade Isaac Achem has blamed the lack of a National body, for teachers' poor performance in schools. Mr Isaac further mentioned that it is clear to note that years after better learning was recorded in Nigeria, good teaching is retrogressing. A lack of a Teacher Training school replaced by the colleges of education in Nigeria with poor funding of Teachers' needs, has contributed largely to the half baked teachers. Nigeria is currently underfunding its educational system below the UNICEF standard.

Achem was speaking on "Nigeria this Morning", a state of the Nation program featured weekdays from 8:30am on 96.9 Coolfm radio, Abuja
