ALUU 4 KILLINGS: NIGERIA POLICE PARADES MORE SUSPECTS

The Rivers State Police Command has paraded 13 suspects in connection with the gruesome murder of 4 University of Port-Harcourt students. The suspects included a woman. The state police commissioner, Mohammed Indabawa who paraded the suspects said two of the key suspects, Ikechukwu Louis Amadi (alias Kapon) and David Chinasa Ugbaje were arrested yesterday, Monday. He said their parade was in line with the directives of the Inspector General of Police and the involvement of the suspects in the murder of the students. Mr Indabawa said the suspects will soon be charged to court.                           

Some of the suspects who spoke to Cool Fm correspondents admitted that they were involved in beating up the students before their death.



One of the suspects arrested by the Rivers State police command has however confirmed that four policemen were present when the four Uniport Students were murdered. The revelation is against earlier claims that police came when the boys were already dead. The suspect, Segun Lawal made the revelation while speaking to newsmen in Port Harcourt. Mr Lawal who admitted that he participated in the gruesome murder of the students said he left immediately the four policemen left the scene and later ran away to Obudu Cattle Ranch in Cross Rivers state. The Osun State born taxi driver said he was arrested when he returned from his charter service last Saturday.



Another suspect, David Ugbaje told newsmen that the crowd brought the late students to their residence at No 9 Coca Cola street in Aluu in search of one Bright. He said he tried his best to prevent the crowd from killing the students but later flogged the victims with his belt as shown in the video. Also, another suspect Ikechukwu Amadi alias Kapon said he joined the crowd in going to look for Bright and later hit the students with stick.





 
Former deputy speaker Rivers State house of Assembly, Iyk Oji has joined in condemning the brutal killing of four Uniport students at Omuokiri one of the clan in Aluu community. Iyk Oji who is also an indigene of Aluu described the act as inhuman and barbaric. He said the community will make sure that all those that committed the act are brought to book

Hon Oji also thanked the Nigeria police for their effort in fishing out some of those who carried out the killing. He also corrects the impression that Alhaji Hassan Welewa is the paramount ruler of Omokiri community and not of Aluu clan. He said their community does not believe in the shedding of blood as such demands a spiritual cleansing

The former lawmaker also appealed to the police to stop arresting members of their community and other inhabitants to enable them go about their legitimate duties.

The National Union of Rivers State Student has however vowed to ensure that justice is done in the killing of the four Uniport students at Omuokiri Aluu. President of the union, Warmate Awoloye at the end of the seven day mourning for their departed colleagues said they will follow up the case until all those that took part in the barbaric act are brought to book. 

Meanwhile, the national president of the Niger Delta students Union, Tombra Yalah expressed sadness over the murder of the students adding that the union would make sure that security is beefed up in that area to avoid future occurrence.
