COMMISSIONER SACKED BY GOV. AKPABIO FOR FAILING TO PROVIDE PIGEONS AT ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY

Sacked Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, A/Ibom State, Helen Ukpabio
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Godswill Akpabio has sacked the state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Helen Ukpabio, for her ministry’s failure to provide pigeons during the Armed Forces Remembrance Day ceremony, held yesterday.
Pigeons are usually released as a sign of peace to mark the high point of the ceremony
Also sacked by the angry Governor was Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Arit Okpo.
Commissioner for Information, Aniekan Umanah who confirmed the sack, however said no reason was given by the governor.
Mr. Umanah told Coolwazobiainfo correspondent Esther Oyegue that the governor has the right to fire anyone presumed to be under performing.

Mrs. Ukpabio and Okpo, were directed to hand over with immediate effect to the Director of Administration, Patrick Essien.
